Slip-on vs full system: which one actually changes the sound
The three common exhaust upgrades change different parts of the system, cost very different amounts, and demand different levels of tuning.
Slip-on
Replaces the muffler only. It's the cheapest, easiest install and captures most of the tone change for many bikes. Often no tune required, though one sharpens fueling.
Full system
Replaces headers through the muffler. It unlocks the most sound and a modest power bump, but almost always needs a tune and raises loudness and drone risk.
Which to choose
If your goal is character and a deeper note, a slip-on usually wins on value. If you want maximum aggression, weight savings, and performance — and you'll tune it — a full system is worth it. Dezybel's report shows budget, balanced, and premium options side by side for your exact bike.
